Greetings all,

Thank you Elizabeth for creating the page: http://partimus.org/chat.php

For those not yet familiar, Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is one of the
original real time group messaging systems. There are quite a few
"networks" of IRC out there but the one most commonly used by open
source projects is the one we use. http://freenode.net The "channel"
in that network we use to discuss partimus is not surprisingly named.
#partimus Elizabeth and I use freenode.net IRC extensively to speak
with the Ubuntu community, other open source projects and friends.
Introductory pages about IRC are available in many places including:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InternetRelayChat
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_use_IRC
http://wiki.debian.org/IRC/
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/IRC
https://wiki.mozilla.org/IRC
http://www.wikihow.com/Get-Started-with-IRC-(Internet-Relay-Chat)

Our chat.php page is a web based IRC client good for getting started
using IRC to speak with us. As it is a real time system it is best to
either be prepared to wait a very long time for a response or use
email to schedule a time to speak with someone. For channels that have
many thousands of people online at the same time like #ubuntu the
discussion can be very crowded. For our channel it is mostly silence
but we welcome you contacting us using our web based client or an IRC
client running on your own computer. [1] We look forward to speaking
with you.

Happy Holidays,

Grant Bowman
Director, partimus.org

[1] If you have an internet server and want to never miss a discussion
on IRC I can show you how to set this up using ssh, screen (or tmux)
and irssi.
